The 911th Airlift Wing hosted a Chief Induction Ceremony to honor two newly inducted chief master sergeants, at the Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, May 4, 2019.
Members of the 911th AW and family members gathered inside a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft to recognize Chief Master Sgt. Benjamin Waxenfelter and Chief Master Sgt. Fabrizio Ferraro for reaching the highest grade of Air Force enlisted service members.
Waxenfelter joined the top one percent of the enlisted tier after 21 years of military service and Ferraro with 29 years of military service.
Waxenfelter and Ferraro are now Chief Master Sergeants, which means that they have mastered the techniques and abilities required by a Chief. They will be afforded privileges not awarded other enlisted members, and they will freely accept responsibilities beyond those specifically contained in the Air Force Instructions. They have no duty hours. They are where they must be to accomplish the mission. They are examples by their involvement in activities related to enlisted matters. They will, by their bearing, behavior and integrity be above reproach. It is their duty not only to enforce standards but by example, be the standard all ranks emulate.
The vital and highly regarded position they have reached exists because of their attitude and performance of Chief Master Sergeants before them. It shall exist only as long as they and their fellow Chiefs maintain these standards.
