FOB WARRIOR, Iraq - Six Soldiers of TF 3-116 Armor were awarded the Combat Medical Badge, while 10 others were presented commander's coins, prior to a Town Hall meeting held by 116th BCT Commander, Brig. Gen. Alan Gayhart, September 30.

The six Soldiers of TF 3-116 AR who were personally awarded the Combat Medical Badge by Brig. Gen. Gayhart, were Spc. Isac Witcraft, Spc. Clayton Stevens, Spc. Jeremy Kitchen, Sgt. Benjamin Dyson, Sgt. John Kreider, and Sgt. Michael Sweek, for rendering first aid under combat conditions.

During the special ceremony, 10 Soldiers of the TF 3-116 Armor, were presented a commander's coin by Gayhart, for their various contributions in support of the 116th Brigade Combat Team.

The Soldiers were; Sgt. 1st Class Todd Gorham, Spc. Joshua Letchworth, Sgt. Craig Moran, Spc. Tommy Fisher, Sgt. Rodney Rush, Sgt. 1st Class Ronald Johnson, Sgt. Paul Scown, Sgt. Brian Allender, Spc. Joel Ruhle, and Spc. Raymond Carroll.

Brig. Gen. Gayhart commended the Soldiers of TF 3-116 Armor for their efforts here in Iraq, then addressed several issues, such as redeployment, the possibility of passes while at the demobilization station, and safety. He fielded a couple of questions, one on a timeline for receipt of submitted awards. The tone of the meeting was very positive, and it allowed the troops to voice their concerns directly with their brigade commander.

The 116th BCT was mobilized in support of the global war on terrorism in June 2004. The unit's multi-faceted mission in Iraq includes security training and operations, aiding the Iraqi government, supporting economic and infrastructure development, and facilitating communications.

The 116th BCT includes headquarters and staff sections, two armor battalions, a mechanized infantry battalion, a support battalion, a field artillery battalion, an engineer battalion, and various intelligence, signal, and specialized units. The 116 BCT is one of several Army National Guard units deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III.
