The newly formed Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point shooting team is currently competing at the Regional East Marksmanship Competition at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, March 15-29, 2019. Eleven Marines are representing Cherry Point and if they score in the top 10 percent of the competition, will be invited to compete in the Annual Marine Corps Match. This is the first formal team from Cherry Point since the late 1980’s.
The competition is one of four division matches throughout the U.S. Marine Corps in which service members and the East Coast’s best shooters participate in numerous small arms courses of fire.
