Story by Staff Sgt. Alex Echols

    48th Fighter Wing

48th Fighter Wing aircraft and personnel arrived at Albacete Air Base, Spain, to train alongside eight NATO allies in support of the Tactical Leadership Programme 19-1.

During the flying course, the 492nd Fighter Squadron F-15E Strike Eagles from Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, will integrate with aircraft from Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and Belgium, preparing aircrews to work together seamlessly within a joint environment.

Routine courses such as TLP ensure the U.S. Air Force remains capable and ready, training side-by-side with NATO allies to meet future security challenges as a unified force.

TLP provides students first-hand training with allied and partner nations, building familiarization and strengthening interoperability with each training mission.

“While in TLP, the students build comradery,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Christopher Lehto, TLP Detachment 1 commander. “At the end of the course, the students are really well integrated and much more capable overall. They consider themselves all members of the same team.”

This multilateral training, in the classroom and in European airspace, focuses on building cohesiveness and tactical understanding between allied air forces.
