After a month long closure, the Airman’s Attic at Yokota Air Base reopened at a new location. Once on the west side of the base, the thrift store is now located on the east side in building 4330. The new location offers benefits to its customers.
“A benefit of moving from the west to east side of the base is that we have a larger facility and we are more centrally located to the base populace,” said Master Sgt. Kevin Flaherty, 374th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron section chief.
Military members and those with Status of Force Agreement (SOFA) status can get various items such as; household goods, clothing, books, etc. Items are donated to the Airman’s Attic and are completely free for shoppers due to the volunteers that work in the store.
It was also a group of volunteers that moved the Airman’s Attic across the base and prepared the grand opening.
“Thank you to all that made this happen,” said Col. Otis C. Jones, 374th Airlift Wing commander. “This is an important function for our installation and our community, and I hope everyone enjoys it, takes advantage of it and gets the word out.”
