CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait -- In preparation for real world events on the battlefield, Soldiers of 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, are taking advantage of the many training opportunities available at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.

The Centurions have spent the last few days studying the operating procedures of an entry control point on a forward operating base and refining rifleman skills.

These training events have helped the senior non-commissioned officers refine their techniques, while giving new Soldiers a chance to experience these events in a learning environment.

"I'm prepared to run an entry control point," said Cpl. Linda Kimbrell, 1st BSTB. "I never knew that searching a person was so difficult, but I did it. Now, I know I can do it in theater."

During a break from training, the 1st BSTB took time to promote one of its newest platoon leaders, 2nd Lt. Jared Larpentuer, Feb. 9, at Camp Buehring.

Larpentuer arrived to Fort Hood last November from Fort Benning, Ga. He quickly moved in and prepared to deploy with the rest of the Centurion family. Larpentuer currently serves as the Task Force Iron Claw Platoon leader in Headquarters Company, 1st BSTB.
