    Kenner Army Health Clinic

FORT LEE, Va. – Brig. Gen. Telita Crosland, Regional Health Command-Atlantic commanding general presented star of excellence status to Kenner Army Health Clinic after completing the Army Safety and Health Management System inspection Sept. 11- 13. This award demonstrates Kenner’s commitment to safety from all levels and recognizes the organization as a leader in occupational safety and health.
Passing the inspection was a total team effort with leader and employee involvement in a culture of safety. Achieving the star of excellence is a milestone for KAHC, not an endpoint, as it will continually seek to maximize safety for staff and patients.
The elements of the inspection were leadership and employee involvement, worksite analysis, hazard prevention and control, and safety and health training.
ASHMS is a DoD safety and health management system that was adapted from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program. OSHA’s VPP program can be applied to all industries to include healthcare.
The ASHMS Star Program was created for exemplary worksites with comprehensive, successful safety and health management systems. KAHC as a star recipient proves superior in their ability to control workplace hazards. Star participants are reevaluated every three to five years, with incident rates reviewed annually.
