    MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan --
The 35th Fighter Wing chapel gave U.S. service members and their dependents an opportunity to view some of Japan’s historical and natural structures with a free resiliency trip Sept. 15.

The goal of the trip was to evoke human dignity, which the chapel accomplished by thanking members and their families for their hard work and dedication to the Air Force mission. In order to ensure they are resilient and recharged, members went on a tour to Geibikei Gorge in Ichinoseki, Japan, to view various rock formations, and travel to Chuson-Ji Temple to view ancient temple artifacts, dating back to the 1100s.

“The purpose of these trips is to build the spiritual resiliency of service members and their families. We use these trips to communicate to active duty members that they are seen and the difficulties they go through are understood and appreciated,” said Capt. Joshua Hammans, a 35th Fighter Wing chaplain. “This gives the community an opportunity to not only renew themselves but get out of the grind of work a little and travel at no cost with their families.”

The chapel plans to continue offering resiliency trips throughout the upcoming year. For more information, call 226-4630.
