DALLAS – The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is making sure that Soldiers, Airmen and their families have everything they need to fuel a strong, active lifestyle.

The Department of Defense’s largest retailer is rolling out sports nutrition concept shops within Exchange stores that feature everything service members need to maintain an active lifestyle. The shops feature pre- and post-workout supplements, sports drinks, vitamins and high-protein snacks all in one place.

“The Exchange serves a unique customer base. Service members and their families live active lifestyles,” said Army Col. Collin Fortier, the Exchange’s military community liaison. “The sports nutrition shops have items designed for all different levels of physical fitness to support them in everything they need for recreation and fitness.”

The one-stop shops offer a selection of industry-leading brands such as Optimum Nutrition, BSN and MuscleTech, as well as emerging brands like Ghost, Sparta, Merica’s Labz, Performance Inspired and more. An increased selection of natural supplements is also available. Previously, the products were located in various departments—health & beauty, fitness, grocery—throughout the store.

Sgt. 1st Class Gene Carbough, who serves in the Louisiana National Guard with Joint Force Headquarters Louisiana, shopped at the Fort Hood Exchange’s sports nutrition shop shortly after it opened.

The new shops “make a lot of sense,” Carbough said. “You used to have to go to one place for one thing, another place for something else. Now it’s all consolidated.”

The Exchange has already opened ten sports nutrition shops and plans to open more than 20 more by the end of October.
