    Joint Base Langley-Eustis

Joint Base Langley-Eustis evacuated vessels and aircraft in advance of Hurricane Florence, Sept. 11, 2018, to avoid possible impacts from the storm.

The 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) relocated approximately six vessels from Fort Eustis’ Third Port to northern parts of the Chesapeake Bay. Roughly 100 personnel from the unit evacuated with the vessels to support them while in safe haven locations.

U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptors and T-38 Talons relocated to Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Ohio. About 100 personnel from the 1st and 192nd Fighter Wings will be on location at the base to provide support to the aircraft.

Additionally, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters assigned to the 5th Battalion (General Support), 159th Aviation Regiment were secured in hangars at Felker Army Airfield.

Hurricane Florence’s path poses a threat to JBLE’s coastline position, which is vulnerable to storm surges.

Local residents are advised to actively monitor news and weather outlets to keep informed of announcements of local or state authorities.
