Fostering the force development for more than one thousand Airmen is no easy task, but it is accomplished every day by two Airmen at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.

The 20th Force Support Squadron career assistance advisors serve the local populace as well as Team Shaw’s geographically separated unit personnel in 29 states and five countries.

“I would say that we are really about talent management and helping people realize their dreams, whether that's a new job, a new opportunity, commissioning programing, or base of preference applications,” said Senior Master Sgt. Brandy Hill, 20th FSS CAA. “Whatever it is, we’re all about trying to make their puzzle work for them. In essence, we’re helping connect the dots of people's lives.”

Shaw’s CAAs are responsible for 12 professional development seminars, providing personalized counseling, speaking at commander’s calls, teaching lessons to new Team Shaw Airmen attending First Term Airman Courses, and much more.

Master Sgt. Jamell Camper, 20th FSS CAA, said they broaden the spectrum of opportunities of everyone they help. Since he and Hill teamed up, they have launched eight more programs. Now, they not only provide services mandated by Air Force Instruction, but they impact more people with all the unique professional development opportunities they offer.

Camper went on to say he feels he makes the most impact when he is able to tap into who a person is as an Airman.

“We're there as additional mentors to help guide Airmen's careers,” Hill said. “Whether that's offering them professional educational type opportunities with their military education or in just personal situations, we’re there to give them those tools.”
