Centennial, Colo. – U.S. Army Sgt. Robert Sheetz, Company A, 1st Battalion, 157th Infantry (Mountain), will represent the Colorado National Guard at the Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition July 23-27, 2018, at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.

A timed 12-mile ruck march carrying a 35-pound pack through the historic Gettysburg Battlefield is a key culminating event at the competition.

“The skills these Soldiers develop during National Guard training prepares them for the challenges they’ll face in this competition,” said The Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael Loh. “This is what it takes to be a National Guard Soldier.”

The competition will test the skills of 13 Army National Guard Soldiers from across the nation in the areas of land navigation, first aid, marksmanship, and physical and mental fitness during simulated combat scenarios.

Soldiers from Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Nebraska, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin will also compete.

The winning Soldier and NCO will advance to the All-Army BWC in September 2018.
