The 2018 edition of the DoD Visual Information Style Guide (VISG) was published July 16, and can be found at www.dimoc.mil.
Starting with this edition, the VISG will be published annually in July.
A notable change concerns metadata. The metadata field for “Service Shown” has been eliminated, and all contact information, such as phone numbers and email addresses, should be captured in the Release Instructions field.
Both changes are reflected in the metadata cross-reference table on pages 39 and 40.
The Visual Information Editorial Board will meet this fall to begin planning the 2019 edition.
Suggested additions, updates and other VISG-related input can be submitted to DIMOC Lead Writer-Editor Thomas Ruyle at thomas.m.ruyle.civ@mail.mil or by phone at 301-222-6209.
