Crowds gathered in front of the stage awaiting Daughtry July 7 during Marine Corps Air Station Futenma Flight Line Fair aboard MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan.
Members of the local and U.S. community on Okinawa came together for a fun-filled weekend of snacks, static displays, and live entertainment.
“I think it’s great that the base opens its gates for the local community because it lets everyone interact and get to know each other,” said Lance Cpl. Christine Phelps a combat photographer with Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. “Instead of it just being military and non-military, it’s just everyone together.”
About 30 thousand people from across Okinawa attended the two-day fair.
Daughtry performed Saturday evening, interacting with the crowd by having them sing along to several fan favorites.
“Its been four years since we were in Okinawa, but it feels like we were just here yesterday,” said Chris Daughtry, lead singer and song writer.
After Daughtry’s performance the sky was lit up by a fireworks display which closed out the evening festivities.
