A supervisor with the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support was recognized for his 36 years of federal service during a retirement ceremony May 31.

Mark Scott retired as an integrated support team chief for ground support in Troop Support’s Construction and Equipment supply chain, where he oversaw contracting of material handling equipment like pallets, tie-down straps and wheel chocks.

Richard Ellis, DLA Troop Support deputy commander, thanked Scott for his support to the nation and the warfighters.

“It’s because of dedicated folks like you that our armed forces are equipped with the best stuff out there,” Ellis said.

Some highlights of his career include being selected for leadership development through the Headquarters DLA Professional Enhancement Program and earning a Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Joseph’s University.

But he said that some of his best memories of Troop Support were the opportunities he had to travel and meet some of the warfighters he supported.

“There was a time when I traveled quite a bit visiting customers, and maybe it’s not one memory - but that was amazing,” Scott said. “That sticks out - meeting the people that you support, the members of the military.”

Scott said that he plans to travel, golf and spend time in Florida during his retirement.
