In terms of design, Italian renaissance gardens are among the best residential gardens in the world. They were built thanks to wealthy and artistically inclined patrons who were able to draw upon a wide range of brilliant artists and highly skilled garden craftsmen.

Below are some of the main public gardens, zoological parks, and aquaria in Tuscany.

Acquario dell’Elba
Elba’s Aquarium

Collodi Butterfly House

Giardino di Boboli
Boboli Gardens
Florence, Piazza Pitti 1; April-May and Sept. – Oct. 8:15 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; June-July-Aug. it closes at 6:50 p.m.; Nov.-Feb. It closes at 4:30 p.m.; last entry is one hour before closing time; The Boboli gardens are one of the greatest open-air museums in Italy. The park hosts centuries-old oak trees, sculptures, and fountains.
