    Commander, Navy Recruiting Command

Bellevue, Nebraska – The Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. Robert Burke and Fleet Master Chief (FLTCM) Russell Smith visited Sailors attached to Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Northern Plains, Navy Recruiting Station Bellevue, April 14.
Burke and Smith had an extended layover flight at the local airport and decided to use that time to visit the Sailors of a nearby recruiting station.
“It was a pleasant surprise and truly phenomenal to be visited by Vice Adm. Burke and FLTCM Smith,” said Lt. Martin Manhart, an officer recruiter of NTAG Northern Plains. “They both had many things to say regarding the future of the Navy and the Navy recruiting mission.”
During their visit with the crew of Navy Recruiting Station Bellevue, Burke talked about the manning and recruiting issues currently affecting the recruiting mission, said Navy Councilor 1st Class Harrell Cox, sourcing and sales recruiter, NTAG Northern Plains.
“Burke also addressed concerns with the crew, covering topics such as Sailor 2025 initiatives and the future mission of the Navy,” said Cox.
Burke really enjoyed the visit, said Manhart. He liked the informal venue and felt like they got better interaction with the Sailors. “The admiral was able to have a frank conversation with Sailors on the deck plates,” said Cox.
“TAOC Minneapolis Sailors based in Omaha had a great visit with Burke. We truly appreciate him taking time from his busy schedule to meet and speak with our Shipmates!” said Cmdr. Brad “Fid” Garms, TAOC Minneapolis commanding officer.
The visit, although short, was beneficial and rewarding for both Burke and the crew of NTAG Northern Plains.
Bellevue is part of NTAG Northern Plains and has recruiters that consist of sourcing, assessing, and onboarding disciplines. The mission of the command is to recruit the high quality, diverse Future Sailors to meet the strategic manning requirements of America’s Navy. The District covers more than 369,923 square miles and consists of Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and parts of Wisconsin, Illinois, and Montana.
