As the movie began, writer and producer of the film, Greg Sestero, came across the screen with a message for the audience.

“You guys are going to be one of the first audiences to see the movie,” said Sestero. “I just want to thank you so much for your service. I hope you enjoy it, and I wish I could be there.”

Though Sestero could not be in attendance, Kristen StephensonPino, lead actress in the film, did attend – meeting moviegoers and discussing the film during the event.

“Honestly, the goal was to come and make these families feel special,” said StephensonPino. “We wanted to give them something in return for everything they do for us, and that goal was accomplished from the responses I got back. I hope in the future we can do more with the military facilities and continue giving back because we do appreciate the service and everything you do.”
Inspired by true events, Best F(r)iends is slated as a comedy thriller and embarks on the journey of a drifter and a mortician who form a friendship that is ultimately challenged by jealousy and hate, and crumbles the scheme they raised together.

“When I found out, I told everyone, and had to bring my family to come and see,” said Jason Gautier, son of retired Army Sgt. Jerry Gautier. “I was extremely excited. We met Kristen, and she was pleasant and friendly.”

The attendees were also treated to a special 30-minute viewing of a documentary on the making of the movie “The Room,” which starred Sestero. The documentary focused on how the movie received such a huge following for being described as the best worst movie ever made.

“I like the documentary that was played before the movie,” said Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Jared Hollingworth. “I saw ‘The Disaster Artist’ and ‘The Room’ already, so it was great to see that too.”

Volume one of Best F(r)iends will be in select theaters nationwide March 30 and April 2. The second volume will be released June 1 and June 4.
