Induction of military officers into the OCS Hall of Fame is an honor dating back to 1958. Individuals inducted into the OCS Hall of Fame have distinguished themselves in their military or civilian life in a noteworthy way since their graduation from the program.
“I went to OCS after serving 13 years as an enlisted soldier reaching the rank of Sergeant First Class,” Taylor said. “Through the OCS program I gained a lot of knowledge on leadership styles and effective ways to manage soldiers in order to accomplish missions.”
The inductees are honored at the National Infantry Museum with a Hall of Fame dinner and are memorialized at the OCS Hall of Fame gallery.
Taylor is currently a resident of Lexington County, West Columbia, SC, where he lives with his wife Kristy and two sons. He initially spent 13 years as an enlisted soldier in the South Carolina National Guard before he commissioned from OCS in 1993 as a Military Police officer in the SCNG.
During his time as an officer in the SCNG, Taylor has held many positions throughout the state and abroad. He completed a tour of active duty as the Director of Emergency Services and Provost Marshal for Fort Jackson, South Carolina from 2008 until 2011. He first served as a Provost Marshal from 2007 until 2008 for a Combined Joint Task Force in Afghanistan.
Holding various full time, director level positions throughout the state of South Carolina, Taylor, the current Chief of Staff for the SCNG, has received many accolades for his outstanding service. He has received the Legion of Merit Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the South Carolina Governor’s Unit Citation, Meritorious Service Medal and numerous others.
