DALLAS and STAMFORD, Conn. – NBC Universal will provide more than 50 hours of live virtual reality coverage (VR) of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games from PyeongChang, South Korea, all of which will be available to US service members worldwide.

This will be the first time ever that VR will be available for a Winter Olympics and that Olympic VR programming will be live in the U.S. on a wide range of devices and platforms. It is powered by Intel True VR. Coverage will include the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, alpine skiing, curling, snowboarding, skeleton, figure skating, short track, ski jumping, ice hockey, big air and more.

Access to VR programming for authenticated users will be via Windows Mixed Reality headsets, Samsung Gear VR, and both Google Cardboard and Google Daydream with compatible iOS or Android devices via the NBC Sports VR app.

As previously announced, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and NBC Olympics will again provide U.S. service members worldwide with access to Olympic streaming coverage from their desktop and personal devices. This benefit is provided to current U.S. Military service members, including Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, as well as active duty, Guard, Reserve, and honorably discharged veterans by Comcast NBCUniversal, and in partnership with local Cable, Satellite, dMVPD, and Telco providers.

NBC Olympics will produce more than 2,400 hours of streaming coverage as more than 2,800 athletes from 90 countries compete in 102 medal events from Feb. 7-25.

Service members will access Olympics coverage from their computers or personal devices by visiting NBCOlympics.com or the NBC Sports app, and choosing the Exchange as their service provider. Due to content rights restrictions, an active shopmyexchange.com account will be required to verify eligibility. Content rights restrictions will also apply to some outside continental United States (OCONUS) locations.

NBC’s primetime coverage of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics begins Thursday, February 8.
