    Iraqi army conducts battle drills
    FORWARD OPERATING BASE NORMANDY, Iraq -- Soldiers of the 2-2 Iraqi Army Battalion and Task Force 1-30 conducted battle drill rehearsals August 2 as part of company level training. U.S. instructors were both impressed by the Iraqi soldiers" familiarity with react to contact drills and in their cohesiveness. Instructors first began with classroom instruction and then moved outside where communication between squad members was emphasized as well as the importance of conducting rehearsals before all missions.

    Registration site security
    DIYALA, Iraq -- Soldiers of Task Force 2-34 conducted an assessment of the Kan"an Voter Registration Site August 1 and provided the information necessary to maximize the security of the area during the voting process. Upon completion of the assessment, Coalition Forces made suggestions to Kan"an Iraqi army leaders in an effort to assist them in their planning process. Thorough planning and hard work are certain to set the stage for a successful registration process.

    Bridge inspection
    BAYJI, Iraq -- Soldiers of Task Force 1-103 inspected the ongoing Al-Baji Bridge project with the local contractor July 26. Expected to be complete in two weeks, the bridge will reconnect Al-Bayji Island with the city of Bayji.

    Health care questions answered
    TIKRIT, Iraq -- Dr Hassan, the president of the Ministry of Health received calls from citizens during a weekly radio show July 29 and answered questions on how Iraqis can resolve some of their health issues.

    Cache redistribution
    FORWARD OPERATING BASE PALIWODA, Iraq -- The Iraqi police transferred weapons and ammunition to the Facility Protection Service July 13. The weapons and ammunition was seized from caches and redistributed to the Iraqi Security Forces.

    Local reports IED
    FORWARD OPERATING BASE PALIWODA, Iraq -- Based on a tip from an Iraqi, Task Force 5-7 located an improvised explosive device (IED) July 29 on the roadside where Coalition Forces travel. The IED consisted of three 155mm artillery shells with 2 bottles of gasoline and a denotation device. The IED was destroyed and the citizen received a monetary reward for the information.
