Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve

Lt. Col. Thomas Turner, deputy commander for the 139th RSG, welcomed the officer in charge of the Taji amber zone security measures and discussed the importance of the Coalition members united as a team.
“Being unified as a Coalition is extremely valuable,” said Turner. “Being considered a partner in this country implies that we are working together. Working together implies that we are planning, operating, and supporting each other throughout our experience here in Iraq.”
Sgt. Maj. Marc Lua, senior enlisted advisor for the 139th RSG, discussed the value of scheduling events and activities for members of the coalition.
“It is really important that we have these type of activities, such as a luncheon, with our Coalition partners often,” said Lua. “It not only shows a strong message of unity across the nation, but also that we support one another and are a family.”
Taji is comprised of a Coalition Joint Task Force and a base camp. The base houses a diverse international presence.
Organized in 2006, the 139th RSG is based at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans, La. On Nov. 2, 2017, the 139th RSG Headquarters and Headquarters Company mobilized in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. As the base operating supporting integrator for Taji, they provide mission command for support operations in a joint operational area, conduct base camp sustainment operations and base camp management operations.
