ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Brig. Gen. Frederick R. Maiocco, Jr., Commanding General, 85th Support Command, will relinquish command of the 85th Support Command to Col. Robert Cooley, Deputy Commander, 85th Support Command, in a 10:00 a.m. ceremony Sunday, July 9, on the 85th Support Command parade field at 1515 West Central Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
Maiocco has commanded the 85th Support Command since August 2014.
The 85th Support Command, headquartered in Arlington Heights, Illinois, is part of a model multi-component structure with First Army, and has nine brigade support elements and 46 Army Reserve battalions assigned and dispersed across the continental United States and Puerto Rico. The 85th SPT CMD maintains readiness for these Soldiers ahead of pre-deployment, and post-deployment training and validation.
Following the Relinquishment of Command ceremony, the 85th Support Command will host a ceremony for the command’s upcoming centennial anniversary on August 5. The unit’s lineage dates back to 1917 when it was activated as the 85th Infantry Division at Camp Custer, Michigan and served in World War I, and World War II.
Media representatives interested in attending the ceremony should contact the 85th Support Command Public Affairs office and arrive at the 85th Support Command parade field no later than 9:30 a.m. Please be prepared to show your media credentials at the gate upon entry to the facility.
