PMO hosts annual Community Safety Event

MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CENTER TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. — Provost Marshal’s Office showed Combat Center patrons ways to stay safe in the upcoming summer months, during the Provost Marshal’s Office annual Community Safety Event, at Victory Field aboard the Combat Center, April 21, 2017.

“We are here today to promote safety by showing our capabilities,” said Sgt. Trent Hall, Special Reaction Team member, PMO. “We also want to improve public relations and show the children and the community what it is that we do for them.”

PMO, including the Military Working Dog section, joined with San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department and the Joshua Tree Search and Rescue Team to educate Combat Center patrons about the different resources and programs available to the community.

PMO’s MWD section demonstrated the dogs’ discipline and abilities in front of a large crowd. The canines attacked and defended against Cpl. Preston Ford, MWD chief trainer, PMO, who played the role of a perpetrator. In a separate demonstration, SRT Marines subdued Special Agent Cody Cunningham, Criminal Investigations Division, to show the crowd the effects of an X26P Taser.

Combat Center patrons were also able to meet professional freestyle motocross riders, Cal Vallone, Destin Cantrell and Jimmy Fitzpatrick, who performed tricks off a 35-foot ramp.
