FOB Warrior, Iraq -- Iraqi Security Forces (ISF), Emergency Service Units (ESU) and soldiers from the 116th Brigade Combat Team partnered in an operation to promote citizen reporting of suspicious activity to their Joint Coordination Center (JCC) near Badir, Iraq, June 30.
There has been a recent increase of terrorist activity in the Southern part of Kirkuk. Iraqis are encouraged to report terrorists or suspected terrorists activities to their nearest JCC.
"The most powerful tool against terrorism in Iraq is for all Iraqis to start saying, stop the murdering," said Brig. Gen. Alan Gayhart, 116th BCT commander. "Enough is enough."
According to the ISF, who distributed 250 informational flyers in the area, the populace appreciated the combined efforts to rid the area of the terrorist scourge.
Iraqi authorities encourage community members to contact their local Joint Coordination Center with any information regarding terrorist or criminal activities at one of the following numbers: Daquq -- 650-039, Kirkuk -- 104 or 115 or 213-333, Hawejah -- (50) 744-121, Dibis -- (050)732-982, Altun Kupri -- (050)-772-360 and Sulaymaniyah -- 100.
The 116th BCT is playing an important role in helping make Iraq more secure. The unit's mission also includes assisting Iraq's new government, supporting economic development and improving communications.
The 116th BCT includes headquarters and staff sections, two armor battalions, a mechanized infantry battalion, a support battalion, a field artillery battalion, an engineer battalion and various intelligence, signal, and specialized units.
With component units from the states of Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Utah, North Dakota, New Jersey and Maryland, the 116th BCT is one of several Army National Guard units that is deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
