Lights, sound check, sing! After a full day touring Eielson Air Force Base, Cassadee Pope geared up to perform her first USO concert, with Eielson being her first stop.

Pope’s day began at the USO, where she met with Col. Todd Robbins, the 354th Fighter Wing vice commander, Chief Master Sgt. Brent Sheehan, the 354th FW command chief, families and other members of the Icemen Team.

“USO-sponsored events like this help the Icemen Team build resiliency,” said Robbins. “The USO brings a tremendous amount of energy and support for Airmen and their families and we couldn’t ask for better partners.”

After visiting the Baker Field House and the Two Seasons Dining Facility, Pope was able to learn about the Eielson mission and see an F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft up-close.

“I’ve had a very warm welcome from the people here at Eielson,” said Pope. “I got to tour the grounds and see breath-taking jets; being able to thank the men and women who serve our country has been incredible.”

Pope will continue on her USO tour with multiple stops throughout Alaska.
As her first USO tour, Pope said she enjoys working with the organization and hopes she can continue her contributions to thanking the members and families of the Armed Forces.

“The USO stands for keeping everybody safe in a world that’s unpredictable, and creates a safe place and brings a lighter feeling to a somewhat heavy environment”, said Pope.

The USO helps strengthen American’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, their home and their country throughout their service to the nation. They provide free events at military bases world-wide and around-the-clock hospitality in airports for traveling service members and their families.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone who serves our country,” said Pope. “Thank you for allowing me to perform; I’ve had an incredible time.”
