JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, Texas – On Mar. 24, 2017, the Reserve Officer Association for the State of Texas recognized a Soldier and unit from the 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in a ceremony held at Randolph Air Force Base.

Each year, the ROA Dept. of Texas holds an annual convention were they recognize Soldiers and units displaying the combat-readiness and capability of America’s Army Reserve. This year the ROA Dept. of Texas selected U.S. Army Reserve Chief Warrant Officer 2 Anthony Wilson, a Sea Mobility Officer with the 4th ESC, for recognition as the 2016 Warrant Officer of the Year, and the 900th Quartermaster Company, a subordinate unit of the 4th ESC based in El Paso, Texas, as the 2016 unit of the year.

Wilson deployed to Southwest Asia in 2016 and played a critical role in planning operations, to include a special mission supporting a first time watercraft training mission, Nautical Horizon, in Kuwait. Wilson’s wife Aimee attended to support him, as well as the 4th ESC Command Chief, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Wilton Toups and his wife Sheryl.

“We appreciate the TX ROA recognizing our outstanding unit and chief warrant officer this year,” said Toups. “We look forward to a future partnership with the Texas chapter of the ROA.”

In 2016 the 900th QM Co supported Operation Maple Resolve, which took place in Canada. The unit managed all supplies and equipment for the annual operation. U.S. Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Joseph A. Powell, a Operations Non-commissioned Officer with the 900th QM, was present to accept the award on behalf of the unit.

“The unit did so much,” said Powell, “I felt strongly that it needed to be recognized.”

The ROA is a non-government organization activated in 1922 to be “the nation’s leading advocate for Reservists and their families.” The ROA provides education opportunities, legal assistance, and is a leader in legislative matters for Reserve personnel in all the Services. You can get more information about the ROA from their website, www.roa.org.

The 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) has units throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. As part of America’s Army Reserve, these units are trained, combat-ready and equipped to provide military and logistical support in any corner of the globe.
