CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Colorado National Guard Soldiers, Airmen, and their families will ruck “March to Fight Hunger” March 17, from Joint Force Headquarters-Colorado in Centennial to Southeast Community Outreach in Parker.

“Our Colorado National Guard family is always ready, always there, whether the call comes from our communities, state, or nation,” Air Force Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards, the adjutant general of Colorado, said. “I’m truly proud of the spirit of service and volunteerism found among our members and their families.”

“The Colorado National Guard cares about our communities,” Colorado Army National Guard Full-Time Unit Support Chaplain U.S. Army Maj. David Nagel said. “This team-building and spiritual fitness event is a great way to show our support for those who are hurting in our neighborhood.”

More than 100 CONG members and their families will march while carrying a backpack or rucksack full of non-perishable food and personal products donations that are in high demand, such as toothpaste and shampoo.

The CONG has been collecting donations at the Denver Armory, Buckley Air Force Base, and JFHQ-CO.

CONG members and their families are encouraged to participate, but participation in the march is voluntary.

The march is approximately five miles long and will incorporate a portion of Broncos Parkway in Centennial and Jordan Road in Parker.

The CONG would like to ask the community to be aware of those participating in the march between the hours of 7 and 11 a.m.
