    Colorado National Guard

CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Approximately 85 Soldiers from the Colorado Army National Guard’s Company C, 1st Battalion, 157th Infantry (Mountain), 10th Mountain Division will conduct ski training at Powderhorn Mountain Resort, Mesa, Colo., March 11.

The unit will also hold mountaineer induction and reenlistment ceremonies and display equipment.

“We encourage our communities to join us to watch these Soldiers proudly serving in the Colorado Army National Guard,” The Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards said. “They’re truly living the legacy of the 10th Mountain Division which started on the slopes of Colorado’s high country.”

Recently re-patched and affiliated with the historic 10th Mountain Division, who have their World War II roots at Camp Hale, Company C specializes in “winter mobility” by performing infantry tasks in an alpine environment. The foundation of their winter mobility lies in their ability to ski.

Company C is a unique unit in the National Guard and the U.S. Army.
Although based in Grand Junction, Colo., Soldiers of Company C come from communities across Colorado, as well as New Mexico and Utah, in order to serve in the unit.

The public is welcome to observe Soldier ski training and to interact with Soldiers at their public display of equipment from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The ceremonies will begin at 4:00 p.m. and are also open to the public.
