Conference to Defeat ISIS in Al Anbar

During the recent Al Anbar Leader’s Conference, Australian Army Brig. Adam Findlay, commander Special Operations Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (Iraq), reaffirmed Coalition support to Iraqi and regional tribal officials in Al Assad, Iraq, Feb. 6.
The conference focused on equipping and providing logistical support for Coalition partner tribes in the area.
Findlay stated that after liberating Mosul, the Coalition would assist in clearing ISIS from the Al Anbar province and that he planned on facilitating future meetings with Iraqi Security Forces and tribal leaders.
Iraqi Army Maj. Gen. Numan Abd Nagim al-Zubi, 7th Iraqi Army commander, and Iraqi Army Maj. Gen. Qassim Muhammad Salih al Muhammadi, commander of Jazeera Operations Command, also supported the shared intent to defeat ISIS.
Qassim stated that the tribal fighters are capable of defeating ISIS and that he is confident that the tribal fighters will clear and hold the land.
Many of the tribal sheikhs talked about their manpower and logistics capabilities, their working relationships with ISF, and their current fight with ISIS.
Mabrook Hamid Mihadi, Mayor of Haditha, said that several areas within his region have already been cleared of ISIS but work still needed to be done around the border.
In the end, Coalition forces, Iraqi commanders, tribal Sheikhs and local government officials came together to share a common plan to defeat ISIS and a traditional Iraqi meal.
