Agencies such as the 20th Fighter Wing Chapel, the Airman and Family Readiness Center and the Red Cross contributed to the event, serving the family members of more than 200 deployed Airmen throughout the duration of the event.
“The deployed family dinner is a monthly opportunity for the community to support the spouses and children of our deployed Airmen,” said Chaplain (Capt.) Robert Pitts, 20th FW chaplain. “This month we were supported by the Victory Gospel Interdenomination Church who provided the evening meal.”
Activities like bounce houses and obstacle courses entertained children, while information booths gave the families a way to network and speak with their deployed Airman’s leadership in a formal environment.
“The event gave families the opportunity to get out of the house and co-mingle with other families,” said Master Sgt. Trever Miller, 20th Civil Engineer Squadron first sergeant. “It helps to know that someone cares.”
Events like this are designed to bring the families of deployed Airmen together in a friendly environment to let them know that they have a second family ready to help.
“At the end of the evening it feels good to return home knowing that families can have someone to reach out to whenever needed,” said Pitts.
