The 2016 Combined Federal Campaign will kick off Sept. 28 and will last until Nov. 15.
The CFC is the only authorized solicitation of Federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations.
Malmstrom will begin their campaign with a kick off ceremony at 9 a.m. Sept. 28 at the Grizzly Bend.
The kick off will be the first opportunity to donate to a charitable organization through the CFC and will feature keynote speaker, Jackie Fitzgerald, representing the Great Falls Voices of Hope.
Group and squadron key workers will be there with charity catalogs and can assist with the different payment options.
“Members can make a one-time cash or check donation, or they can set up an allotment through their unit representative,” said Master Sgt. Joseph Chastain, 341st Operations Group facility manager superintendent and CFC wing team lead.
If members wish to remain anonymous they can donate via myPay.
“They will need to let their respective point of contact know some information in order for us to track where we are in relationship to reaching our goal,” said Chastain.
Last year Malmstrom not only met their goal of raising at least $100,000, but bested it by raising approximately $105,000.
This year the goal has a little more meaning behind it.
“In recognition of our Air Force turning 69 years old we have set Team Malmstrom's goal at $69,000,” said Chastain.
With more than 23 categories and 22,000 charities to choose from, the CFC wing team leads believe that everyone can find at least one charity they would like to donate to.
“If an Airman doesn't know which charity to donate to, I would encourage him or her to take the time and look through the charities brochure,” said Chastain. “There are charities for every walk of life and every interest under the sun. Everyone can find at least one charity that he or she feels good about donating to.”
While donating to the CFC is strictly voluntary the wing team leads explain why they volunteered and why they think that this campaign is so important.
“It’s a great way to anchor a positive donation to a world in need and to bring out the great ambassador within you not only to your local community but to the world,” said Master Sgt. Jose Lopez, 341st Missile Wing administration functional manager and CFC wing team lead.
Chastain agrees with Lopez and explains the donation process a little further.
“They aren't just donating to CFC,” said Chastain. “They are donating to a charity of their choice. A charity that they believe will make a difference.
“These charities can be local, national or international,” he continued. “The categories of donations range from education, the environment, medical research, crime and legal research, civil rights, recreation and religion-related.”
The kick off celebration will have multiple local speakers sharing stories of how donations have impacted their lives.
“You would be surprised by how a contribution may impact someone's life so come to the kickoff and hear a couple of our speakers tell their stories!” said Lopez
