TAJI, Iraq -- An Iraqi civilian was killed and another wounded by a suicide car bomb in the early morning hours near the village of Mushada northwest of Baghdad, Iraq Wednesday, June 1, 2005.
A male of undetermined age, was pronounced dead minutes after the attack and a second man was evacuated for medical treatment for wounds he received in the attack.
A third Iraqi male was pronounced dead at the scene and preliminary reports indicate that he may have been involved in the attack.
The suicide bomber attempted to attack a U.S. convoy traveling north on the highway. As the bomber approached the convoy he command detonated his vehicle. No American troops were wounded or killed in the attack.
"This is another prime example of a cowardly terrorist attack that succeeded in killing or wounding innocent Iraqi people," said Col. David Bishop commander of 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division.
Many of these attacks targeting U.S. Forces are unsuccessful. Terrorists are also targeting Iraqi Security Forces and Iraqi police.
"This is the fourth time terrorists have killed innocent civilians on the same stretch of road." said Bishop.
