SYNOPSIS: HSM-79 Establishment Ceremony


SCRIPT FOR CC:

“Ladies and gentlemen the griffins have a bright and busy road ahead of us and we are excited to take on that challenge. Today we had the great opportunity to establish the last HSM squadron in the wing. HSM-79 was established today it was the last MH-60 Romeo squadron.”

“When they get here they have the spaces and they don’t have much else and the bodies start to flow in. They don’t have the aircraft so they have to work closely with the wing. They’ve had tremendous support here to be able to practice maintaining those aircraft they’re eventually going to get, learning how to fly those aircraft that they’re eventually going to get. And also you know there’s a lot of responsibility here in the hangar bay to get the men and women who are going to operate these aircraft ready to do it. There’s also a lot of work outside of the squadron taking care of those new families as they come into the San Diego area getting them established. Helping people get their kids into school and what not, getting them comfortable so that they can be here to support their loved ones as they get ready to deploy.”

“Being part of a new command is always a unique opportunity. Being a plank owner anywhere in the Navy is something you can always be proud of and wear it forever and ever. And on top of that just the function of being a plankowner, being the owner of that taking responsibility for that to setting the squadron up for success for years and years to come it’s truly an honor to be a part of that.”
