CINCU, Romania – Senior military leaders with the United States Army and the Romanian Army participate on May 5, 2016 in the opening ceremony for Operation Resolute Castle 2016, a NATO led operation devoted to improving military infrastructure across Eastern Europe.
Resolute Castle 16 is nested within Operation Atlantic Resolve- a United States Army and Europe-led multinational operation that strengthens the United States partnership with our NATO allies. Resolute Castle 16 is an ongoing joint training and security cooperation between the United States and NATO allies and partners, showing our commitment to the collective security of NATO. These operations create opportunities for the United States and allied leaders to collectively train, operate, and win in a complex environment through solid partnerships.
The 194th Engineer Brigade Tennessee Army National Guard holds mission command across four European countries for Resolute Castle 16 with operations spanning from site improvement construction to military police training. It includes a multi-component task force comprised of Active Duty, Reserve, Navy Seabees, and multi-state National Guard forces. Through these partnerships, the interoperability with coalition forces are fortified, working side by side to improve training sites in Romania, Estonia, Bulgaria, and Hungary. These improvements will enable the building of trust, partnership, and friendships between great NATO allies.
Col. Brad Bishop, the 194th Engineer Brigade commander, and other distinguished guests participated in the opening ceremonies for Resolute Castle 16 in Cincu, Romania, May 5, 2016. Col. Bishop addressed the dignitaries, soldiers, and others present at the ceremonies stating, “We look forward to promoting regional stability and security, strengthening our partnerships while improving infrastructure and training capabilities.” Over the next five months, USAREUR, the 194th Engineer Brigade Tennessee Army National Guard, the 10th Engineer Brigade Romanian Land Forces, and the 877th Engineer Battalion Alabama Army National Guard will be working side by side to complete the training site improvements at Cincu Training Area in Romania. While the 194th Engineer Brigade holds mission command for Resolute Castle 16, the 877th Engineer Battalion is mission command support and lead in Cincu, Romania.
