FORT HUNTER LIGGETT, Calif. - FHL supported two local school's Read Across America events on March 3 and 4, 2016 by providing static displays and volunteer readers.
"The FHL presence added a lot to the event!" said San Antonio School principal, Pam Hernandez.
Military and civilian volunteers from FHL read to hundreds of students at the Oak Avenue Elementary and San Antonio School in Greenfield and Lockwood, respectively.
The 102nd TASS Training Center provided Soldiers and a HMVEE to talk to students about what it's like to be a Soldier and the Army mission. The FHL fire and police departments provided staff and vehicles to talk to students about safety. Volunteer readers were from the garrison and tenant units.
"I love reading to children," said garrison staff Ms. Joan Price who enjoyed a couple of hours out of the office.
