Airman 1st Class Jacob Cypert of the 127th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron said he was once rather shy and introverted. Serving in the Michigan Air National Guard has helped him grow in confidence, he said.
Following a suggestion from his father that he explore a military career, Cypert now serves as a munition systems apprentice, supporting A-10 Thunderbolt operations at Selfridge. He’s using his military benefits to attend college and is interested in a career in the film industry in the future.
“He’s driven and always positive,” said Senior Airman Tamara Robinson, a co-worker.
Cypert said the key to his success has been his fellow Airmen in the munitions shop.
“I enjoy the people I work with and being part of the team,” Cypert said.

About the 127th Wing
Comprised of approximately 1,700 personnel and flying both the A-10 Thunderbolt II and the KC-135 Stratotanker, the Michigan Air National Guard's 127th Wing supports Air Mobility Command and Air Combat Command operations by providing highly-skilled Airmen to missions domestically and overseas. The 127th Wing is the host unit at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, which marks its 98th year of continuous military air operations in 2015.
