Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island

PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. - The commandant and regimental sergeant major of the British Commando Training Centre, Royal Marines, familiarized themselves with how Parris Island molds approximately 50 percent of male recruits and 100 percent of female recruits into Marines during a visit to the depot July 8-10, 2015.

Commando Training Centre Commandant Col. Kevin Oliver and Regimental Sergeant Major Warrant Officer 1st Class P. W. McArthur visited the depot after discussing the role of women in combat with the Marine Corps Force Integration Office earlier in the week.

The Commando Training Centre is the principal training center for British Royal Marines, who must complete 32 weeks of training.
