    Task Force Liberty Soldiers assess Deaba school
    DEABA, Iraq -- Soldiers from Task Force Liberty's Task Force 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry, visited the school in Deaba recently in Diyala Province to assess the conditions of the facility and identify any assistance that could be given. The visit was prompted by the community's ongoing support for the Iraqi Government and Security Forces. The school has leaky ceilings, broken desks, inoperable bathrooms and a lack of school supplies.

    School renovations in Hib Hib finished
    HIB HIB, Iraq -- Contractors have finished the renovations on a school in Hib Hib in Diyala Province. Task Force Liberty's Company A, 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor, paid for the renovations with Commander's Emergency Relief Program funds. The school now has enough classrooms, recreational areas, bathrooms and sinks.

    Joint patrol nets two suspects in Tahrir
    TAHRIR, Iraq -- The Tahrir Police and Task Force Liberty Soldiers conducted a joint patrol in Tahrir April 10 to investigate a recent vehicle-concealed improvised explosive device attack in the area. Two suspects were taken into custody for questioning.

    Iraqi Army and Police set up joint checkpoint
    BAYJI, Iraq -- Iraqi Army soldiers and Iraqi Police set up a joint traffic control point April 7 north of downtown Bayji to interdict insurgents, smugglers or criminals. The two groups are also conducting joint patrols of the area with little support from Coalition Forces. No arrests were made at the TCP, but the soldiers and police were able to hand out informational pamphlets to motorists passing through.

    Iraqi Army checkpoint secures council meeting
    AD DUJAYL, Iraq -- Iraqi Army soldiers from Company D, 210th Battalion, secured an area of downtown Ad Dujayl April 4 to protect civilian leaders attending the weekly city council meeting.

    Coalition, As Siniyah leaders meet to discuss curfew
    AS SINIYAH, Iraq -- As Siniyah city council members and community leaders meet with the leadership of Task Force Liberty's Task Force 1st Battalion, 103rd Armor, to discuss security matters in the community and shortening the imposed curfew. The city council recognized that security was the town's responsibility and the curfew was the result of recent mortar attacks on a nearby Coalition Forces base. The council agreed to increase police and joint patrols and to report information on terrorist activities in the area.

    Task Force Liberty, Iraqi Army Soldiers partner to train
    SAMARRA, Iraq -- Task Force Liberty Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor, and Iraqi soldiers of the 202nd Battalion have partnered to train on basic soldier skills at a Coalition Force Base near Samarra. The Soldiers trained on reporting methods and first aid April 7.

    Iraqi Police enforce parking regulations in Ad Dujayl
    AD DUJAYL, Iraq -- Iraqi Police issued citations to illegally parked vehicles in downtown Ad Dujayl April 3 to clear the main street for traffic. The police conducted this operation independently and helped ensure security in the city.

    Kirkuk police transcend ethnic lines
    KIRKUK, Iraq -- The makeup of the police in Kirkuk reflects the ethnic diversity in the city and surrounding area. On a recent patrol by the Emergency Service Unit three officers, an Arab, a Kurd and an Assyrian, were wounded in the same vehicle when they came under fire from terrorists in another vehicle. The Arab officer later died of his wounds.

    Kirkuk Police TV Show airs Sunday night
    KIRKUK, Iraq -- Every Sunday night the Iraqi Media Network airs the Kirkuk Police TV show. The Kirkuk police chief and the province's chief justice appeared on the April 10 edition and characterized the type of individuals who were conducting attacks in the area and the damage the attacks do to the entire country. Two captured terrorists appeared by taped interview, and admitted attacks they conducted and that they were wrong to have done so.

    Hawija coordination meeting held in Kirkuk
    KIRKUK, Iraq -- Each Sunday leaders from the southwest area of Kirkuk province, including Hawija, meet at the Kirkuk Government Building to discuss and resolve issues relating to the area. Topics discussed April 10 included water and high school examinations for college admission.
