CREECH AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. - Team Creech hosted its first children's Halloween Party for families Oct. 25, 2014, at Creech Air Force Base.
The event gave children the opportunity to have fun with other Creech families and showcase what their parents do on a daily basis.
"We did it to bring the families out to Creech," said Aimee, the event organizer and wife of Lt. Col. Ryan, 15th Reconnaissance Squadron commander. "We wanted to have it be a fun family event and for them to appreciate what their Airmen do and also for the kids to see where their parents work."
Children and family members were encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and participate in the many activities provided.
Activities included were face painting, family photos, ring toss, pingpong, treat walk, book reading and many more. The fire department also provided a fire truck for the children to sit in and explore.
Marcus, 7, son of Senior Airman Andrew, 11th RS, expressed the treat walk was his favorite activity and that he really enjoyed the day.
Also included during the event was an open house for the families in the flight simulator building, which was decorated with a Halloween theme. Children were allowed, with supervision from authorized personnel, to sit in a ground control station and fly a simulated remotely piloted aircraft to give them a better understanding of what their parents do on a daily basis to accomplish the mission.
"Events like these show that even though [Creech] is different from other bases, we can still show families we care and that being a part of the Air Force is still fun," said Col. James Cluff, 432nd Wing/432nd Air Expeditionary Wing commander.
