WHAT: The District of Columbia National Guard is slated to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Youth ChalleNGe Academy at the Oak Hill Campus, Laurel, Maryland, July 10th at 10 a.m.
The program, hosted by Maj. Gen. Errol R. Schwartz, is slated to include distinguished guests to include Mayor Vincent Gray, Senator Mary Landrieu and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. There will be a media availability following the ceremony.

WHO: D.C. Youth will have a new alternative for G.E.D. completion through the Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe program, a partnership between the District of Columbia National Guard, the City of Washington, D.C. and the federal government. The 30 acre, 14 building campus has undergone massive renovations to give the Oak Hill Facility a new lease on life and usefulness.

10:45 a.m. Ribbon-cutting ceremony on grounds of Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe Academy
11 a.m. Vincent C. Gray, Mayor of the City of Washington, will hold a press conference on the grounds of the Youth ChalleNGe Academy
11:30 a.m. Opportunity for media to tour the facility
12 p.m. Media depart the Youth ChalleNGe Academy campus
NOTES: The ceremony and Mayor’s press conference will be held in the gymnasium. Please specify media parking when you arrive on the campus.
