A column of U.S. Army soldiers in camouflage uniforms marches through a Dutch town street, led by a color guard carrying the American flag and a U.S. Army unit guidon. Civilians line the sidewalks watching the parade, and Dutch street signs, license plates, and architecture confirm the location as the Netherlands. The event appears to be a commemorative military parade, likely related to WWII liberation anniversaries.

U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 21st Special Troops Battalion, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, serve as the honor guard as they lead the parade portion of the 82nd Remembrance Ride in Groesbeek, Netherlands, Sept. 19, 2026. The ride brought history back onto the roads of Groesbeek, where restored vehicles and reenactors helped connect the community to the Soldiers who fought there during Operation Market Garden. As the United States marks 250 years of independence, Operation Market Garden commemorations offer a living example of the long relationship between Americans and the Dutch. From Dutch trade and support during the American Revolution, symbolized by the First Salute at St. Eustatius in 1776, to American and Allied forces fighting together in the Netherlands in 1944, that history continues today through communities that preserve the memory of those who served and through an enduring U.S.-Dutch partnership.
