The Vietnam People’s Navy ship, HQ-274, and the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre ship SAR 274, conduct a search and rescue exercise with Arleigh burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86) in the South China Sea, Aug. 5, 2026. Shoup and Carrier Strike Group Five are forward-deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 7th Fleet, the Navy's largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific.
