Brinkman, an operations sergeant with the 371st Sustainment Brigade and a Columbus Grove, Ohio native at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait on Aug. 8, 2013. Brinkman received a coin from Grippe after sharing his experiences in Afghanistan that awarded him the Bronze Star Medal with Valor.
