The race track stands at the center of the 2026 Annual Race Car Derby at the Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., Sept. 11, 2026. The annual event, hosted by the Center for Development and Civic Engagement in collaboration with Recreation Therapy, culminates eight weeks of Veterans meeting weekly to design and build miniature race cars while fostering creativity, camaraderie and connection through meaningful recreation.
