An artist’s rendering depicts the GHOST-R satellite prototype, which is designed to deliver geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) reconnaissance capabilities to the Department of War, at an undisclosed location, Sept. 18, 2026. The GHOST-R program, a partnership between the Department of War Innovation Unit (DIU) and Space Systems Command (SSC), leverages commercially developed space vehicles, buses, and electro-optical payloads to deliver high-resolution space-to-space imagery for characterizing resident space objects in GEO.
