The Basic Bio Suite Unit (BSU) is part of the Biological Integrated Detection System (BIDS). Biological detection systems like BIDS, Joint Biological Point Detection System (JBPDS) and Joint Portal Shield (JPS) are operated with single-use lateral flow immunoassays (LFI) that use antibody-antigen reactions for specific detection and identification of biological warfare agents. These systems use LFIs to detect and identify multiple specific biological warfare agents across an installation or wider operational area.
