U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Christian F. Wortman, commanding general of I Marine Expeditionary Force, presents a coin to Cpl. Nathaniel Telega, a utilities systems technician with Combat Logistics Battalion 13, Combat Logistics Regiment 17 (CLR-17), 1st Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, during a battlefield circulation visit, at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Sept 10, 2026. Wortman came to visit deployed service members and review operations in support of the southern border mission. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
