U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 1-505 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, 3rd Brigade Combat Team conduct medical training with Peruvian Army paramedic and local Peruvian doctors during Exercise Southern Vanguard in Sauce, Peru, Sept. 12, 2026. The medical exercise allowed the medical professionals involved to learn skills and tactics from one another, strengthening each component individually and closing any potential interoperability gaps between partner nations.
SV26 brings together approximately 400 warfighters to execute a field training exercise and command post exercise in a demanding austere jungle environment. The training includes combined operations designed to simulate real-world contingencies in the complex terrain of the Amazon Jungle hills of the Amazon. (U.S. Army National Guard photo Sgt.
