A Peruvian soldier builds a primitive shelter during jungle survival training at Exercise Southern Vanguard 26 in Sauce, Peru on Sept. 12, 2026. SV26 is a multilateral training exercise hosted by the Peruvian Army (Ejercito del Peru) at the Jungle School (Escuela De Selva) in coordination with the U.S. Army Western Hemisphere Command.
SV26 brings together approximately 400 warfighters to execute a field training exercise and command post exercise in a demanding austere jungle environment. The training includes combined operations designed to simulate real-world contingencies in the complex terrain of the Amazon Jungle hills of the Amazon. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt.
